Welcome to the Ashton Golf Club juniors page.

Golf for Juniors is all about enjoying yourself.

We have a proud tradition of producing and nurturing some of the finest young golfers in the Country including Louisa Brunt, (England Ladies & Texas Tech student) Luke Kelly, (Current Lancashire Champion) and Matt Nixon (a former British Boys champion and now a European tour professional) to name a few.

Over many years we’ve continually developed a supportive framework to cater for all ages and levels of Junior golf including structured coaching, a shortened course to enable younger juniors to gain confidence before heading out onto the full course and junior competitions.

At present we have approximately 60 academy and junior members ranging from the age of 3 to 18. This coming season our head professional and former AULGC Junior, Michael Boyle will be working with our young golfers so they can learn more about their individual games and most importantly have fun.

Many of our juniors' parents are not golfers and see our coaching and Junior section as a fantastic, safe alternative to other sports.

To encourage continued growth in our junior section we do not charge a membership fee until the age of 16 at which point it is just £2.50 per week.

If you would like to know more please contact Lee Butterworth on 07808 489265.
Mathew Nixon was the British Boys Amateur Golf Champion in 2006, He is now competing on the European Tour; Mathew learnt his trade through our junior section from an early age here at Ashton.
Louisa Brunt has been the Junior under 13 County Champion and North Region English Women’s Golf Champion, Louisa is currently in Texas and also amongst the England Ladies Squad.
As more and more Junior Members join our club this trend is set to continue into the future.

The junior organisers ensure that there is an active programme of events, both golf and other fun activities throughout the year, in addition to internal club competitions there is the opportunity to gain experience by representing the club in external competitions and matches. Juniors are actively encouraged to participate in all events.

With the following restrictions: Fairway Mats, Temporary Greens Balls lying in the rough may be placed within six inches or played from a mat Balls lying on the fairway may be played from a mat or taken into the rough and placed. A ball must not be played from grass on the fairway. Winter wheels are preferred for trolleys. As we are now in the Winter months, temporary greens may be introduced at short notice for short periods by the greenkeeper. We consider these an inherent part of golf in these months and visitors must accept that. Please phone the Pro if you wish to confirm whether any temporary greens are in play
